BJJ open mat - Eric took the lead here and did nice job keeping things moving. He ran some drills off of the back and then we did some training. Katie has been working hard and showing good improvement. She will be helped by her renewed committment to coming to Judo. She needs to be on top and with Sarah who has been doing great, in more often they will have excellent training for one another. had a few sets of training, Eric, Dave, were solid. The snowicane ma have kept the numbers down for the open mat.
For Judo, we had another good number, with 13 in class despite the weather. Again there were a large numbers of green and brown belts. We did standing and drop seoi nage ane then worked on Tokui waza. 4 sets of randori. allessandro returned in his rehab from the double knee surgery. Great to see him back, just have to make him stay patient and get healthy before trying to do too much too soon.
I broke the ne waza into two groups of 6 round robin players. I did the round robin with Dave, Eric, Chris S., Shannon and Migel. Good sets. Shannon got to my half guard from on top and caught an ude garame. from there as I was trying to get my guard back. He's a very solid player, not crazy, fundamaentally sound, as he commits to improving his back game, he will be even better. The rest of the sets were unremarkable.
Kbell challenge - I did 32/26 with a 24 kg.
