a tech I need to remember from 8/6/9

Urso covered some information on the 50/50 half guard. the idea is to wrap your right leg behind the right leg of the uke, over the top of it then lock the right ankle behind the left knee. This is the position. He showed a sweep from there which seems hard to stop and he has become very good at it. However he considers the position dangerous, doesn't like it and believes it will soon be illegal.

the sweep is done by turning your hips away from uke and rocking your body after you have secured a grip on the far ankle, then using almost a de la riva movement to take ukes directly across your body.

More importantly to me is the defense. Most importantly you MUST keep you weight away from uke as far as possible to avoid the sweep.

Then the Urso defensepush the shin knee of the tori down below your own knee and work to step out. works faster but has a higher rate of being swept than...

The Zak defense - If your left leg is trapped grab the left sleeve and the left collar, you can release the collar in a pinch but you must hold the sleeve(!). Then your right foot into the arm pit of the tori. Now work to get you left foot to the other side of the tori (from his left hip to his right hip) push up and across his body which will kill the 50/50 position. Pass normally, by flattening the hips.
